Darchula floods update: Death toll rises to five



DARCHULA: Incessant rains-triggered flood and landslide in Lasku river and Naugad area has killed five people and caused heavy damage in ​​Khalanga, the headquarters of Darchula.

According to Darchula police, Janaki Thagunna, 37, Dhanuli Thagunna, 13, and Mohanram Parki of Naugad-2, who had gone missing after the landslide yesterday night, are found dead.

Similarly, Manmaki Karki of Mahakali-3, Dunguri and Nandaram Bohora of Mahakali-2 have lost lives due to the flood in the Lasku river.

More than a dozen houses have been washed away by floods, authorities said.

Jagat Magar, Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Darchula said that the flood swept away one suspension bridge and one concrete bridge.

He informed that the rescue work is undergoing.

Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel have been deployed at the scene of the incident for rescue operations.

The flood caused massive flooding in Lasku river and Mahakali river.
