KATHMANDU: Two matches are scheduled today under the Women SAFF Championship underway in Kathmandu.

The matches are being held at the Dasharath Stadium in the federal capital Kathmandu.

Bangladesh will meet Pakistan in the first match while India will meet the Maldives in the second match taking place at 1.0pm and 5.30 pm Nepal time today.

Meanwhile, in the Group Stage match held between Bhutan and Sri Lanka on Friday, the former beat the latter 5-0.

This is Bhutan’s first historic win in the Championship so far. Dekhi Lazom scored two goals while Nyamgel Dema, Tshering Laden and Chhiring Yangden scored a goal each for Bhutan in the match yesterday.

With this thumping victory, Bhutan has the highest three points in the table tally bolstering their chances to enter the semi-final.

Before this, Bhutan conceded a 0-4 defeat to Nepal while Sri Lanka started off its journey in this edition of the Championship with a defeat.

Sri Lanka will play Nepal in the Group Stage match scheduled for September 12.

Bhutan had played 1-1 draw with Sri Lanka in the first edition of Women SAFF championship held in Bangladesh in 2010. This was their best performance so far.
