42 India returnees diagnosed with Coronavirus in Sudurpaschim

BAITADI: As many as 84 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection in Sudurpaschim Province in a single day.

While performing tests on 1,107 people in the last 24 hours, 84 were found to have contracted coronavirus, the Sudurpaschim Province Health Directorate shared.

Kanchanpur district has topped the list with the highest number of COVID new cases (42) while Kailali saw 33, Achham four, Darchula two and Bajhang, Doti and Baitadi one.

Forty two among the infected are India returnees, it was shared. As informed, 23 of the infected had returned through Gaddachauki, 16 through Gaurifanta, two through Pulghat and one through Jhulaghat entry point, informed COVDI-19 Focal Point of the Directorate Hemraj Joshi.

As the province shares border with India, health desks have been set up in all checkpoints to speed up COVID tests.

A total of 60,511 people of Sudurpaschim have been so far diagnosed with the coronavirus in the province.

The contagion has claimed 634 lives in the province as of now.
