Leader Liu invites PM Deuba to 20th CPC Congress in November
Liu Jianchao, the visiting Communist Party of China (CPC)’s foreign affairs chief, has invited Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to attend the party’s 20th Congress (convention) in November.
CCP General Secretary and President Xi Jinping has picked Liu, the party’s foreign affairs chief, as his envoy to Nepal.
During a bilateral meeting in Baluwatar on Sunday afternoon, Liu conveyed a message from President Xi and invited Prime Minister Deuba to attend the party’s congress, according to a Baluwatar source.
The 20th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party is taking place in November.
President Bhandari plants ‘tulasi’
President Bidya Devi Bhandari planted the ‘tulasi’ or basil sapling in the private residence premises at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on the occasion of the Harisayani Ekadashi on Sunday. She also offered worship on the occasion.
Harisayani Ekadashi is a special festival observed by the Hindus. It is believed that if one plants the ‘tulasi’ sapling and observes a fast on this day, it brings happiness, peace and health to society, family and the person.
Chinese Communist Party’s head of International Department Jianchao arrives in Kathmandu
Liu Jianchao, the head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party, arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday.
Liu landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on a four-day visit to Nepal leading a six-member team.

UML’s Ram Bahadur Baniya and Maya Kumari Khadka Kunwar have been elected as the Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively.
Chinese leader pays courtesy call on Foreign Minister Khadka
siting Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Liu Jianchao has held a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr. Narayan Khadka at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
The Chinese leader is the CCP’s chief of the International Department.
The two Ministers exchanged views on further strengthening of bilateral relations between Nepal and China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in its press release.
NRB seeks suggestions for upcoming fiscal’s monetary policy
Nepal Rastra Bank has sought suggestions for preparing monetary policy of upcoming fiscal 2022/23.
As per the provision in the Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2058 BS, the bank has sought opinions and suggestions from the stakeholders concerned for the monetary policy.
Article 44 of paragraph 5 of the said Act has given full authority to the Central Bank to formulate and implement monetary policy.
