IPL: Kolkata inflict 52-run defeat on Mumbai



KATHMANDU: Kolkata Knight Riders have defeated Mumbai Indians by 52 runs in a T20 cricket match under the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Mumbai were all out for 113 runs in 17.3 overs while chasing the 166-run target set by Kolkata held at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Monday night.

Mumbai’s Ishan Kishan hit a half-century of 51 runs followed by Kieron Pollard and Tim David with 15 and 13 runs, respectively. The other batsmen could not fare well.

In reply, Kolkata’s Pat Cummins took three wickets and Andre Russell claimed two wickets from Mumbai.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Kolkata had notched up 165 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer notched up 43 runs each followed by Ajinkya Rahane with 25 runs. Similarly, Rinku Singh collected 23 runs.

Mumbai’s Jasprit Bumrah took the highest five wickets followed by Kumar Kartikeya with two wickets from Kolkata. Murugan Ashwin and Daniel Sams claimed one wicket each.

With this victory, Kolkata have climbed the seventh position with 10 points while Mumbai are at the bottom with four points.
