NC must forge an electoral alliance to ensure success: PM Deuba

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister (PM) Sher Bahadur Deuba has, for the first time, has spoken in favor of an electoral alliance in the upcoming local elections.

The local elections are being held on May 13.

“Unless we forge an electoral alliance, we cannot be successful,” PM Deuba said at a program in Parsa today.

Prime Minister Deuba said that the local, state and federal elections would be easily won and the next government could be formed under the leadership of the Nepali Congress only after coordination among the parties in the ruling coalition.

He said, “In such a situation, we need to get along with some other political party since I have become the Prime Minister with the support of the ruling partners.”

Prime Minister Deuba added that Nepali Congress cannot face the election alone since he claimed that the main opposition – the CPN-UML – “has a strong and extensive organizational network”.
