KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has decided to close down Nepalgunj-based Dreamland Hotel for defaulting royalty of over Rs 3.8 million for the operation of a casino business.

The hotel owes royalty of Rs 381 million 45 thousand 664 to the government. Though it was asked time and again in writing to clear the dues, the Hotel failed to abide by the directions, prompting the government to take action against it.

It was shut at the direction of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale.

Happy Hour on September 5, 2010, took permission for running a mini-casino at the hotel.

According to Minister Ale, the casino license has been also rescinded.

It is said the Nepal Police Headquarters was urged in writing to proceed towards closing the Hotel.
