National Assembly election code of conduct effective

KATHMANDU: The code of conduct for the National Assembly elections has come into effect from today.

The NA election is being held for 19 vacant posts on January 26.

As many as 12 political parties are taking part in the elections. However, the major competition is likely to be held between five-party ruling coalition and the CPN-UML.

A total of 43 candidates are contesting the elections.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has warned of action against the parties if the code of conduct is not implemented.

The code of conduct is applicable to ministers and officials of federal, provincial and local governments.
