Relevance of federalism over: Biplav

“Political parties’ legitimacy has ended”

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand Biplav has said that the relevance of federalism is over in the current context.

Biplav made such a comment about federalism at a program organized in Kapilvastu on Friday.

He said that the rationale of federalism currently being practiced in Nepal has no meaning.

Biplav pointed out that there is a need for proportional federalism of the people rather than the federalism currently being practiced.

“The results of the general elections held on November 20 have confirmed that the legitimacy of the current parties has ended,” he said.

Biplav pointed out the need for a special economic policy as the country could no longer afford federalism.

He also warned that the country would face the fate of Sri Lanka if a special economic program is not introduced immediately.
