Constitutional Bench completes hearing on petition against decision to invalidate CJ’s impeachment motion



KATHMANDU: The hearing on a writ petition filed against the Parliament Secretariat’s decision to invalidate the impeachment motion against suspended Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shumsher Rana has been completed.

The Constitutional Bench led by Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki comprising Justices Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha, Aananda Mohan Bhattarai, Ishwar Khatiwada, and Anil Kumar Sinha heard the petition filed by the Supreme Court Bar Association.

It should be noted that Supreme Court Bar Association President Purnaman Shakya, Vice President Mukunda Poudel, Secretary Rishiram Ghimire, and others had filed the petition at the SC challenging the Parliament Secretariat’s decision, on Wednesday.

The Bench will make its verdict public soon, sources said.
