Home Minister Khand directs prompt rescue efforts and treatment to those injured in Doti earthquake

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has directed the home administration and security agencies to promptly rescue and manage medical treatment for those injured in the Doti earthquake.

A 6.6 magnitude earthquake hit the Doti district in the Sudurpaschim Province in the week hours of Wednesday, killing at least six persons and injuring six others.

The quake took place at 2:12 am with its epicenter in Purbichauki Rural Municipality-3, it has been said.

The minister called Home Secretary Binod Prakash Singh, joint Secretary Phanindra Mani Pokharel, also chief of the Security Coordination Division, the Ministry of Home, and the Disaster Management Division and security agencies and directed them in this regard.

He also urged the prompt management of a helicopter (if need be) in the rescue and treatment efforts.

The Home Minister also took stock of the situation and rescue efforts to the injured persons.

He directed immediate reliefs, and the management of a proper accommodation to the affected families. He also offered his condolences to the deceased, and the bereaved families.
