Nepal beats India 3-1 in SAFF U17 Championship 2022 booking place in semi-finals



KATHMANDU: Nepal entered semi-finals under the SAFF U17 Championship, 2022 by defeating India 3-1 in a match on Friday at Race Course Ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

With this win, Nepal has topped Group ‘B’ with six points.

Similarly, Bhutan being placed in Group ‘B’ has been eliminated from the match with nil points.

Earlier, India beat Bhutan. In the 25th minute, India opened the account with a goal from Danny Meitei, leading the match 1-0.

However, the lead could not sustain for long, as Nepal equaled with a goal from Saroj Darlami in the 45th minute.

In the second half, Nepal’s Unesh Budhathoki scored another goal in the 49th minute, leading the match 2-1.

Again for the country, Subas Bam scored another goal in the 68th minute, winning the match.

In its first match, Nepal beat Bhutan 2-1.

Six countries—Nepal, India, Bhutan, Maldives, hosts Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh participated in the tournament.
