Voting for new working committee of Patan High Court Bar Association underway



KATHMANDU: Voting for the 20th new working committee of the Patan High Court Bar Association is underway today.

In the election, there is a competition between two groups, a democratic one led by Ram Krishna Sharma and progressive one led by Shanti Ram Khatiwada.

Legal practitioners that have been in the progressive group are from the CPN (UML) and the CPN (Unified Socialist) and others who have joined democratic group from other parties. The size of the new working committee of the Bar Association will be 19 members. Out of which, 10 are fighting for the post of a five-member office bearers and 18 for the post of 14 members.

Voting started at 9 am and will conclude at 5:15 pm, said chief officer of the Bar Election Committee, Kedar Adhikari, adding that vote count will take place at around 7 pm today itself. There are a total of 2,828 eligible voters in the Bar Association. (RSS)
