Death toll in Sankhuwasabha tractor accident hits three



KATHMANDU: The death toll in the Sankhuwasabha tractor accident has hit three, according to the Area Police Office, Chainpur.

A tractor (Ko 2 Ta 3961) that was carrying mourners skidded off the road and overturned at Kumkata along the Khandbari-Leguwa road on Friday noon, killing three persons and injuring many others.

The deceased have been identified as Ganga Bahadur Tamang, 24, of Chainpur Municipality-10, Keshab Karki, 46, of the municipality-9 and Khadga Bahadur Bhandari, 66. The latest victim of the accident was Bhandari, who died at Dharan-based B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

Police Inspector Basnet said that the 66-year-old Bhandari died in course of treatment at Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences on Friday night.

Similarly, injured Tamang and Karki died while undergoing treatment at Manakamana Community Hospital, Tumlingtar.

The six critically injured have been referred to BPKIHS for further treatment from Manakamana Community Hospital.

Temporary Police Post, Sabhakhola, has arrested the vehicle driver, Mohan Kumar Tamang, 34, of Chainpur-10. (RSS)
