Minister Jhakri to hold talks with agitating Bancharedanda locals tomorrow on garbage management

KATHMANDU: Ministry of Urban Development has called the agitating locals of Bancharedanda for talks on garbage management tomorrow.

Talks have been scheduled to be held tomorrow morning between the Bancharedanda struggle committee and the ministry on dumping garbage in Bancharedanda of Nuwakot.

The talks will be held to resolve the dispute over waste management in Kathmandu Metropolis.

The dispute escalated after the locals of Bancharedanda and Sisdol obstructed the trucks carrying garbage in the area.

The agitating locals have blamed the authorities for dumping the garbage without the consent of the locals.

Locals had obstructed the vehicles carrying garbage on Tuesday and Wednesday and the situation had worsened after the police used force.

On behalf of the government, Urban Development Minister Ram Kumari Jhankri, coordinator of the agitating struggle committee Shri Ram Dhungana and ward chairpersons of Nuwakot and Dhading affected by the garbage will participate in tomorrow’s talks.

Earlier, the Ministry of Urban Development had agreed to dump garbage in Bancharedanda on Monday with the heads of Kakani of Nuwakot and Dhunibesi of Dhading.

However, the locals denied the allegations saying that the ward chairperson of the affected area was not included.
