KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to truncate the size of government employees by 10 percent to streamline the staff administration.

Unnecessary organizational structure in the government service is being abolished and the posts of government employees are being reduced to provide additional service facilities to the remaining employees, said the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

The government has mentioned in the budget of the coming Fiscal Year 2079/80 that the posts of federal civil servants and other service employees will be reduced by 10 percent.

According to the Ministry, the government will move ahead with the process of cutting staff as per the budget.

Joint Secretary of the Ministry Narayan Prasad Aryal said that the budget has been mentioned to reduce the staff to make the administrative service more efficient.

According to him, even if the number of employees is small, the service will be smooth and effective.
