KATHMANDU: The silence period is starting from Tuesday midnight for the local level elections to be held on Friday.

Election campaigns cannot be organized during the silence period. Since political parties are allowed to hold the election campaigns only today and tomorrow, they have intensified the election campaigns and publicity.

Similarly, checkpoints bordering India and China are being closed from tomorrow midnight.

The border checkpoints will remain closed from tomorrow midnight until Friday midnight in view of the May 13 local elections, said the Home Ministry.
