We engaged in factionalism, therefore, we failed to be harbinger of change: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling coalition member CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ confessed that the party could not be established as a vehicle of social change due to factionalism within the party.

Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the Maoist Center Chairman remarked that although the party was striving to be a carrier of change, it had not been able to establish its agenda aggressively.

“Despite the fact that we planned and worked to establish Maoist Center as the bearer of change, we are unable to take the society in the direction aggressively,” he said, adding, “However, we have not been able to establish ourselves in the society in an aggressive manner. We have not been able to become the vehicle of change and mobilize power by overcoming the contradictions within us and the factions.”

The Maoist Center chair expressed his dissatisfaction at not being able to get the deserving people elected in the party’s central committee and promised to ensure the representation of all groups and people proportionately.

Stating that there is a need to create employment by developing industry and business, Chairman Prachanda stressed on the need to find a new model of social development. He pointed out the necessity to develop industry and business to make maximum use of the resources available in the nation.
