Unified Socialist Chair Nepal reaches Khumaltar to meet Maoist Chair Prachanda

KATHMANDU: CPN-Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has visited Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at the latter’s Khumaltar based residence on Wednesday morning.

According to  Maoist Center sources, the former Prime Ministers duo discussed on various issues including the mess and uncertainty looming over the current politics.

Nepal had reached Khumaltar in the morning to meet Prachanda.

The source claimed that the leaders discussed the burning issues like Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the expansion of the Karnali province cabinet.

The ruling coalition is facing a hard time while seeking consensus in ratifying MCC. As promised to the MCC office earlier, the MCC has to be passed by February 28.

Earlier, the MCC office set a February 28 deadline, as per the request made from the Nepal side, for the ratification and has said a failure to do so could lead to the end of MCC’s partnership with Nepal.

Nepali Congress has said that MCC should be passed while Maoist Center and Unified Socialist opine it should be passed after amendment.
