Editors’ Society Nepal to honour journalist duo, Baniya and Nepal



KATHMANDU: The Editors’ Society Nepal has decided to honour journalist duo, Rajendra Baniya and Bishnu Prasad Nepal.

The Govinda Biyogi Journalism Award that was instituted in memory of the founder chair of the Society Govinda Biyogi is to be presented to News Chief at Himalayan Television, Rajendra Baniya this year.

The award carries a purse of Rs 25,000. Likewise, the Society has decided to provide the Govidna Biyogi Special Journalism Award to Senior Editor at Rastriya Samachar Samiti (National News Agency), Bishnu Prasad Nepal.

The award bags a cash prize of Rs 15,000. The Society has been felicitating journalists contributing to the journalism sector since long.

This year, the Society has also decided to felicitate senior journalists, Malla K Sundar, Puruswottam Dahal and Krishna Tamrakar, with the Editor Society Honour, shared Society’s general-secretary Shyam Dotel.

The awards were instituted in 2062 BS following the demise of Society’s founder chairperson Biyogi.

The Society has decided to organize a face-to-face felicitation programme at its under-construction building at Shivapuri-7, Suryachaur this time after the withdrawal of order enforced by Chief District Officer to stem the spreading cases of COVID-19.
