EC provides election symbols to parties vying in NA elections

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has provided election symbols to the parties contesting the National Assembly (NA) elections.

The election symbols were provided after the final list of candidates for NA polls were made public Sunday.

The NA elections is slated for January 26. As many as 43 candidates are in the fray in all the seven provinces for NA elections.

The EC gave ‘Tree’ symbol to candidates from Nepali Congress (NC), ‘Sun’ to CPN-UML candidates, ‘Hammer and Sickle’ to CPN-Maoist Center candidates and ‘Pen’ to CPN-Unified Socialist candidates.

Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidates received the ‘Plough’ symbol, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) got the ’tilted Umbrella’, Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) the ‘Bicycle’, Nepal Workers Peasants Party (NWPP) ‘Madal’ and Rastriya Janamorcha ‘Glass’ symbol.

The EC informed that the Election Code of Conduct 2015 would come into force from Monday to ensure free, fair, transparent elections.
