Govt providing National Identity Card from all municipalities of Kathmandu from Sunday



KATHMANDU: Government has arranged to make National Identity Card (NIC) available from all area administrations and municipalities of Kathmandu from Sunday.

Issuing a notice on Friday, the Department of National Identity Card and Registration  stated the service of NIC would be made available from all the area administrations and municipalities of Kathmandu.

After the government made NIC mandatory to apply for the electronic passports from November 17, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu had been a site to see due to the unmanageable crowd queuing for national ID.

The Department of National ID stated that registration stations for online services have been added keeping in view the convenience and management of the people crowding for national ID.

Earlier, the beneficiaries from Bagmati province except Bhaktapur and Lalitpur could apply for the ID at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu. Similarly, the beneficiaries from Province 2 also could apply for national ID at Kathmandu district administration.

Likewise, the beneficiaries  from Karnali and Sudurpashchim Province arrangements could apply for national ID at  Lalitpur District Adminstration Office for most essential services and  the beneficiaries from Province 1, Lumbini  province and Gandaki province could apply at the Department of Passport located at Narayanhiti palace premises.

According to Yubaraj Kattel, director and information officer of the department, in addition to all the places providing the national ID related services, all municipalities and area administration offices of Kathmandu will be providing the service from Sunday.

He informed that the Department has collected the personal and biological details of about 5.2 million citizens so far.
