KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising has claimed that the authority’s investment is focused on the development of electrical infrastructure to increase electricity consumption and Nepal will be fully independent in electricity in two years from now.

Speaking at the ‘Fin Electro Tech 2022’ exhibition program organized by the Federation of Nepal Electrical Businessmen on Thursday, MD Ghising said that the government and NEA both are investing in the development of necessary electrical infrastructure.

He mentioned that various EV Expos are being held to increase the consumption of electricity produced in Nepal.

Ghising said that expansion of charging stations and induction based cooking utensils are prioritized for electricity consumption.

He said that electricity consumption cannot increase without the development of electricity transmission, distribution and substations.

Ghising said that the authority is in the process of building electrical infrastructure to supply quality electricity. He added that the authority has reached the stage of completing 100 percent electrification of villages as per the government’s policy and program and NEA need not import electricity after two years.
