Makarigad Hydropower CEO reinstated after four years

KATHMANDU: The Labour Court has decided to reinstate Puja Chand Thakur as the chief executive officer of Makarigad Hydropower Pvt Ltd.

A division bench led by Court chair Basudev Acharya and assistant member Prem Kumar Rai on November 30 decided to reinstate Thakur on the post.

Following the removal from the post, Thakur moved the court, seeking the reinstatement and the court verdict came after four years of the registration of the writ petition.

The court asks the hydropower to restore Thakur with the guarantee of dispenses of remuneration and entire facilities since the day of her discharge from the duty.

Thakur was officially ordered to leave the office on November 23, 2018 and she moved the District Court, Kathmandu, the Office of Labour and Employment Kathmandu and the Labour Court, demanding the repeal of the order.

In the petition, the management side found making her to work without ToR as the company CEO and dismissed her without any prior information.

As the court assessed, the hydropower has been asked to pay around Rs 10 million with the reinstatement as per the Clause 172 (1) of Labour Act, 2017.
