RSP in hot waters; leaders question party’s intention while naming PR members

KATHMANDU: Dissatisfaction has emerged within the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which is chaired by Rabi Lamichhane, regarding the proportional election of policymakers.

The RSP had earlier chosen the names of those who received the most votes in the primary election last October in the closed list of the House of Representatives.

But now, some leaders complained, the party has included the names of those who got an insignificant number of votes in the list of proportional representation candidates.

Some disgruntled leaders of the party are protesting at the central office in Bashundhara today against the party’s intention.

The party has won 7 seats under the first-past-the-post system and 13 seats under the proportional category.
