Unified Socialist leader Khatiwada manhandled in Makawanpur election gathering

KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Birodh Khatiwada was manhandled in Makawanpur at an election gathering on Tuesday.

Khatiwada, who is a candidate for Makawanpur Constituency 2 from the ruling alliance, was physically assaulted in Golghar of Manhari Rural Municipality-4.

Area Police Office Newarpani said that Khatiwada, who had reached the election gathering of the alliance organized in Golghar, was assaulted by 50-year-old Purushottam Khadka of Chowki Tole, Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-2.

Khadka had slapped Khatiwada twice as he got out of his car and began to walk to the program venue, police sources said.

Police have taken Khadka under custody and took him to Makwanpur District Police Office.
