President Bhandari admitted to TUTH

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has been admitted to Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) after suffering from fever.

Personal Secretary of President Bhandari, Bhesh Raj Adhikari, informed that she had been admitted to the hospital for the check-up after she complained of health issues.

Nepal sees eight new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of eight new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.

Of the confirmed cases, six were detected through the RT-PCR method and two through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 1,329 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Speaker Sapkota says won’t contest Nov 20 election

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has said he would not contest the November 20 election.

He made the announcement by organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Sapkota, a CPN (Maoist Center) leader, was elected to the House of Representatives in the 2017 election from the Sindhupalchowk-1 constituency.

Ghanashyam Bhusal parts ways with CPN-UML

CPN-UML leader Ghanashyam Bhusal announced that he was leaving the party on Saturday.

Bhusal took the decision after the party denied him a ticket to contest the November 20 election.

Bhusal said he decided to quit the party due to party president KP Sharma Oli’s arrogance and arbitrary decisions.

Writing a message on his social media page, Bhusal said, “As I saw no possibility of restoration of policy and system in the party where I devoted my 45 years, I have decided to part ways with it.”

Seven members of a family die in Jumla landslide

Seven members of the same family died in a landslide that buried their house in Jumla district.

Similarly, two others have been injured. The landslide buried the house belonging to Ganesh Bahadur Shahi at Barkotebada of Kanakasundari Rural Municipality-5, which killed seven members of Shahi’s family.

The disaster occurred early morning on Saturday, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Narendra Chand.

UML, JSP agree to share 16 seats each in Madesh Province

Of the 32 seats in the Madesh Province, the CPN-UML and the Janata Samjbadi Party (JSP) have agreed to share 16 seats each in the upcoming general elections, said a UML leader.

Likewise, the UML has decided to support the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) in Jhapa-3 while the RPP has decided to support the UML in Jhapa-5.

Chinese Ambassador’s farewell call on Speaker Sapkota

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi, paid a farewell call on Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota today.

The Chinese Ambassador paid a farewell call on the Speaker at his official residence in Lainchour.

On the occasion, Speaker Sapkota recalled that significant visits were held from China during the term of Ambassador Hou, and congratulated her for completing her tenure successfully.

UML politburo member Bal Krishna Dhungel passes away

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML politburo member and first Constituent Assembly member Bal Krishna Dhungel passed away on Saturday.

UML leader GB Khadka said that he died after he fell in the toilet of his residence in Gothatar today.

He was alone in the house when the incident occurred.

Following the tragedy, leaders and cadres from Okhaldhunga and family members have gathered in his residence.

He was elected as a lawmaker from Okhaldhunga-2 in the first Constituent Assembly from CPN (Maoist Centre).
