140 houses inundated in Nawalparasi



NAWALPARASI: A total of 140 houses in east Nawalparasi were flooded on Friday, due to floods in Narayani and other rivers following incessant rainfall over the past few days.

Spokesperson of east Nawalparasi District Police Office, Santosh Pathak, said following the incessant rain since Wednesday night 80 houses in Gaindakot, 20 in Madhyabindu, 28 in Binayi Triveni and 16 in Hupsekot were inundated by flood water.

Meanwhile, the Daldale-Kumsot-Pokhri road, which connects the district headquarters to Boudikali and Bulingtar, was blocked by landslides also triggered by continuous rains.

After the road connectivity was obstructed, the people who went home to celebrate Dasain were not able to return, while the patients who had to be reached the hospitals were affected.

Travelers have been forced to take alternate routes as a result. According to the police, two houses in Boudikali and Bullingtar and one shed in Bullingtar of the district were damaged due to landslides.

Similarly, more than 200 hectares of near-harvest paddy crop have been completely damaged due to the floods in Narayani in Binayi Triveni-1 of the district.
