Ruling coalition close to allocation of seats for Nov 20 polls

KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition has finalized the allocation of seats with the Nepali Congress (NC) getting 84 seats in the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives (HoR).

However, the parties are yet to finalize the remaining 4 seats.

NC, the largest party of the alliance, will get 84 seats, and the second-largest party Maoist Center will be getting 47 seats.

Likewise, the Unified Socialist party led by Madhav Kumar Nepal got 20 seats, and the Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal has got 2 seats.

Meanwhile, the Janata Samajwadi Party, which walked away from the meeting, as got 8 seats.

The meeting of the top leaders of the ruling parties on Friday discussed how it could finalize the report of the task force.

The top leaders have continued the discussions for some days to finalize the seat allocation among them for the November 20 elections.

The Election Commission (EC) has scheduled that coming Sunday (October 9) is the date for the parties to submit candidacies for the election of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly.

In view of the deadline, the alliance is under pressure to finalize the seat sharing and submit names before the Election Commission.
