KATHMANDU: An arrest warrant has been issued against Nepal national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane.

Kathmandu District Court on Thursday issued an arrest warrant against the cricketer.

Police had written an application to the court to issue an arrest warrant after a minor girl filed a rape complaint against him.

A 17-year-old girl had filed a complaint at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala, on Tuesday.

Lamichhane is currently in West Indies playing the Caribbean League.

Meanwhile, Lamichhane denied the allegations of rape in a conversation with the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) officials.

The national cricket team capitain expressed hope that CAN will facilitate the legal process in his favor.

Meanwhile, CAN decided not to take any immediate action against Sandeep.
