China bars vehicles carrying goods for Dashain from entering Nepal

CHAUTARA: The goods that are being imported to Nepal for Dashain festival are stopped in Tibet region.

Containers loaded with clothes, electronic devices, fruits and other items are not allowed to enter Nepal.

The fruits started decaying, said Chairperson of Sindhupalchowk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Raj Kumar Basnet.

The apples loaded in some 50 containers are getting decayed soon. The businesspersons bringing apples in Nepal are all Chinese.

The Chinese government has ordered to stop the goods-carrying vehicles entering Lhasa from the China mainland for the time being reasoning that there is still lockdown in Tibet after the spread of coronavirus infection.

Chair Banset shared that more than 200 containers were stopped at Keyrong and around 100 containers at Khasa.

Chief of Tatopani Dry Port Custom Office, Narad Gautam, also mentioned that import of goods was prohibited.

The lockdown imposed from August 8 at different cities of Tibet due to coronavirus infection is still on.

A Nepali businessperson Subas Timilsina complained that Nepali businesspersons bringing different goods from north border of China have been facing problems due to this.
