9th National Games will be held on time: NSC

KATHMANDU: The National Sports Council (NSC) has made it clear that the 9th National Games will be held on the scheduled time.

Talking to media persons in Pokhara on Monday, NSC Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising requested the Gandaki Province to start preparations for the event accordingly.

Gandaki Province is hosting the 9th National Games from October 14 to 20. According to Ghising, athletes will participate in 407 events in 36 sports.

Eleven teams – seven provincial teams, three departmental teams, and one team of non-resident Nepalis (NRN) – are participating in the event.

Except some sports like swimming and shooting, all events will be organized in Pokhara. Kathmandu is likely to host those events because Gandaki Province lacks the infrastructure to host such events.

All the events will have both men’s and women’s categories.

All individual athletes securing gold medals will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000, while those winning gold in team events will receive Rs 15,000 each. Likewise, athletes setting national records will get another Rs 50,000.
