Two dead, 32 wounded in Sankhuwasabha tractor accident



KATHMANDU: Two people were killed and 31 others injured when a tractor carrying people on the way back from a funeral met with an accident at Dumkata of Chainpur municipality-10 in Sankhuwasabha district on Friday.

According to District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha’s police inspector Saroj Khanal, the tractor (Ko 2 Ta 3961) met with the accident at Dumkata along the Khandbari-Leguwa road section, causing the deaths of Ganga Bahadur Tamang, 24, of Chainpur-10 and Keshab Karki, 46, of Chainpur-9.

It was carrying people who were returning home after attending the death rituals.

Those wounded in the accident are being treated at the Manakamana Community Hospital Tumlingtar and the District Hospital Sankhuwasabha.

Following the accident, police have apprehended tractor driver Mohan Kumar Tamang, 34, of Chainpur-10.
