Obstructed e-passport service resumes



BAITADI: E-passport service, obstructed in three districts of Sudurpaschim Province, has resumed.

E-passport service was obstructed in Baitadi, Bajhang and Darchula districts from July 1 due to some problem in e-passport server connection.

Information Officer at the District Administration Office, Baitadi, Khagendra Bharati, said enrollment and issuance of e-passport was obstructed after problem was surfaced in e-passport server connection and it has resumed after repair and maintenance from the Department of Passport.

Baitadi district had started providing e-passport service from May 26 for the first time.

Around 400 people have received e-passport in the district so far. Meanwhile, Melauli municipality of Baitadi district has been declared child-labour free zone on Thursday.

Chief Administrative Officer of Melauli municipality, Jagadish Prasad Joshi, shared with the completion of all indicators required for the declaration of child labour free zone, Melauli was declared child-free municipality amidst a programme.

The government has set a target to make Nepal child labour free country by 2082.

On the occasion, Mayor Bhim Bahadur Chand said situation of child labour in the municipality would be identified and initiatives would be taken to address the problem of child labour in coming days.

Different programmes including onsite survey, collection of details of child labourers and identification of the children at possible risk were launched in order to make the municipality child labour free.
