Lawmaker Shrestha demands government to ensure waste management

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Krishna Gopal Shrestha has demanded the government ensure the prompt management of Kathmandu Valley’s solid waste.

Seeking time in a special hour of the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting today, the lawmaker said, “The Valley people are irritated by piles of trash going uncollected for days in households, roadsides and open and the problem should be addressed without any further delay.”

He was of the view of addressing voices of the Sisdol and Bancharedanda folks to remove obstructions in the waste management.

As he said, mutual understanding not force is required for finding a solution to the issue.

He also sought the government’s assurance whether the Valley’s waste is picked up immediate and also the Speaker’s ruling towards that end.

Likewise, Yagya Bahadur Bogati accused of politicization in the murder of a student in Achham.

He drew the attention of the government towards bringing perpetrator(s) in the killing of Binod Shahi to book.

Meanwhile, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota said that his serious attention was drawn towards the incident and ruled the government to proceed with an investigation of the case.
