May 13 Local Election: Number of adult candidates higher



KATHMANDU: Adults comprise a significant number of candidates to various positions in the upcoming local level election.

According to the Election Commission (EC), 76,162 candidates are aged between 35 and 50.

Among them, 39,669 are male and 27,493 are female.

The number of candidates aged between 21 and 35 is 35,258, including 18,780 male and 16,478 women.

Similarly, the number of candidates aged between 51 and 65 years is 37,054, including 26,515 male and 10,539 female.

Candidates above 65 years of age number 5,527 including 4,350 men and 1,177 women.

Election is being held on May 13 for a total 35,221 posts of 753 local levels.

There are a total 145,010 candidates.

3,238 candidates are contesting for the post of municipality mayor, 1,964 for the post of deputy mayor, 3,092 for the post of chair and 2,163 for the post of vice-chair of the rural municipality.

Similarly, there are 32,496 candidates for the ward chair position, 53,173 for ward member, 25,599 for women member and 23,285 for dalit woman member at the ward level.
