Country jinxed since five-party alliance formed: UML Chair Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said the country is jinxed with the formation of a five-party alliance.

Addressing an election gathering organized by CPN-UML Rupendehi in Butwal on Sunday, Oli termed the alliance as jinxed in context of the alliance making budget cuts for development plans forwarded by the UML-led government.

“The alliance always said the government did not have budget for UML-forwarded developments programs. When the UML was in government, we never said there was no money,” he said, adding, “The formation of alliance turned to be jinxed for the nation.”

He appealed voters to root out the alliance completely on May 13 by voting against the five-party coalition.

UML Chair Oli also urged the Election Commission to make the May 13 local election peaceful and free of rigging.

He viewed Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s recent statement in which he said that the country would plunge into a disaster if the alliance loses the election as an attempt to intimidate and threaten the Election Commission.

He also urged the police and civil servants to help make the election free and fair.

Oli claimed that the people did not care about the five-party alliance and that there was a nationwide wave in favor of the UML.
