Election code of conduct to come into force from today midnight

The Election Commission (EC) is making preparations to implement the election code of conduct for the upcoming local level elections from today midnight.

The EC is imposing the code of conduct today after political parties and other stakeholders expressed commitment in writing to comply with the code of conduct.

Govt dismisses NRB Governor Adhikari

The government has sacked Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Maha Prasad Adhikari.

According to a Finance Ministry source, Deputy Governor Neelam Dhungana has been made the acting governor.

A letter of suspension was handed over to the Governor Adhikari on Friday.

Nepal Bar election: Clean sweep for coalition panel, Gopal Krishna elected president

The panel representing the ruling coalition has emerged victorious in the election of the Nepal Bar Association.

The coalition panel claimed all the posts in the 25-member working committee of Nepal Bar Association.

Gopal Krishna Ghimire, former president of Nepali Congress-aligned Democratic Lawyers Association, has been elected the new president of Nepal Bar. Ghimire defeated rival candidate Bishnumani Adhikari, who was close to the CPN-UML-affiliated professional body of lawyers.

Typhoid vaccine being administered to 7.5 mln children

Typhoid vaccine is being administered to 7,500,000 children from the age of 15 months to 15 years across the country from today.

The vaccines will be provided from over 50,000 vaccination centers and schools, for which 10,000 medical persons and 112,858 volunteers have been deployed.

Govt to open medical colleges in all provinces

The government is making preparations to establish government medical colleges in all seven provinces.

A proposal has been submitted to the Council of Ministers to open  medical colleges, informed Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel.

Cabinet overturns decision on Budhigandaki Hydroelectricity Project

The government has revoked the Government of Nepal (Council of Ministers)’s decision of September 21, 2018, regarding the Budhigandaki Hydroelectricity Project.

Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said this while addressing a press conference organized at the Ministry Friday to inform about the decisions made by the meeting of the Council of Ministers on April 7.

Country has fallen victim to NC, UML and Maoist Center alliance: Chairman Lingden

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has accused the alliance of Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML, and CPN-Maoist Center of making the country their victim.

Addressing a public meeting of the party at Tundikhel, Kathmandu on Friday, he said that the country has fallen victim to the alliance of the political alliances led by NC, UML and CPN-Maoist Center after 1990s.
