NC joins Sudurpaschim government, CPN-US shuffles ministers

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has joined the government in Sudurpaschim Province.

On the eve of the implementation of the code of conduct for local level elections, the NC participated in the provincial government with two ministers and one minister of state.

NC parliamentary party leader Rana Bahadur Rawal has been appointed the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law and Govinda Bohora the Minister for Social Development and Tek Bahadur Raika the Minister of State for Social Development.

Newly-appointed Ministers have been administered the oath of office and secrecy on Friday evening.

The CPN-Unified Socialist (CPN-US) made space for the NC to join the government by calling back its two ministers and one state minister.

The CPN-US withdrew all ministers expect Dirgha Sodari, who is Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development. Minister for Internal Affairs Purna Joshi, Minister for Social Development Lal Bahadur Khadka and Minister of State Manakumari Saud vacated their posts to make way for NC Ministers.

The CPN-US also replaced Minister of Economic Affairs Tara Lama with party leader Prakash Rawal. Minister of State Chun Kumari Chaudhary has been replaced with Kul Bahadur Chaudhary.
