NEPSE witnesses 16 points fall on Tuesday



KATHMANDU: The stock market index NEPSE has declined by 16.30 points to close at 2,835 points on Tuesday.

The index rose to an intraday hight of 2,921 points within the first five minutes of trading, but then fell until the last minute. NEPSE recorded a total turnover of Rs 6.28 billion today.

Earlier on Monday, the index had increased by 15.5 points with a turnover of Rs 5.2 billion.

Today’s market saw the decline of six points in banking sector, 51 in development bank, nine in finance, 53 in hydropower, 168 in life insurance, and 35 in microfinance sector. Other subgroups declined by 2 points.

Similarly, trade sector increased by 2 points, non-life insurance by 56 points, manufacturing by 27 points and hotels and tourism by 3 points.

A total of 40 companies gained while 140 companies bore the loss. The value of 11 companies remained stable on Tuesday.

The value of Nepal Insurance Company increased the most by 3.83 percent. Liberty Energy fell the most at 6.27 percent.
