EC urges Ministry of Federal Affairs for making arrangements of necessary materials for local election

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has urged the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration to provide details regarding the condition and management of buildings, means of transport, furniture, or other material required for the upcoming local level elections.

The EC has also urged the Ministry to correspond with all the local levels to ensure that at least one desktop computer, laptop, scanner and printer are available from the concerned local level for the operation of the office after the establishment of the office of the Chief Returning Officer/Election Officer.

There is a provision for the Government of Nepal to provide the necessary staff and other assistance to the Election Commission to carry out its work of holding the elections.

The EC may use the federal, provincial and local government-owned or controlled institutions or land, building, means of transport, furniture, or any other physical means for conducting the election by giving prior notice as required.

EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma said for conducting and managing the election local level and district coordination committees, all 753 local levels have been asked to prepare the office for the establishment and operation of the office of the election officer for about two months.
