Parsa tightens border security, intensifies COVID-19 tests over Omicron risks



BIRGUNJ: Parsa District Administration has tightened the border security keeping in view the risk posed by Omicron variant of coronavirus.

The Omicron transmission has panicked life in major cities including New Delhi, the capital city of India.

“As Nepal shares open border So security at all transits with India and the scope of infection has increased, we decided to take precaution by setting up health desk and tightening security at the border areas,” said Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal

Similarly, in view of the variant risks, the respective health offices have been asked not to grant a leave to their health workers.

CDO Dhakal informed that COVID-19 vaccines and safety equipment like facemask and sanitizers have been distributed as per the recommendation of the local levels.

Meanwhile, 25 samples from the 35-60 age group, most of them Indian nationals, have been sent to National Public Health Laboratory, Teku, Kathmandu for gene-sequencing after they tested COVID-19 positive at Birgunj based Narayani Hospital.
