Gandaki team announced for nat’l cricket tournament



POKHARA: The team to represent Gandaki has been announced for the Prime Minister Cup national men’s cricket tournament.

The Gandaki Provincial Cricket Association has selected 18 players under the captaincy of Bipin Khatri for the tournament to be organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) in Kathmandu from December 10.

The team has 14 regular and four reserve players. Bishal Poudel is the vice-captain of the team. The other players are Bidhan Shrestha, Deepak Dumre, Arjun Kumal, Anil Gurung, Govind BK, Sandeep Khatri, Abhishek Basnet, Kamal Pariyar, Subhash Bhandari, Ashok Shrestha, Krishna Poudel and Chandrakant Poudel, according to Gandaki Provincial Cricket Association President Devendra Praju.

Similarly, Amrit Gurung, Dinesh Budhamgar, Rovin Timilsina and Sameer Poudel are the reserve players. Rinaj Praju has been selected the coach and Chandra Kumar Gurung (Jimmy) manager of the team.

The cricketers were selected from a provincial selection competition held at the cricket ground at Pokhara Stadium from December 24 for the Prime Minister Cup Tournament. Four districts including Syangja, Tanahu, Kaski and Nawalpur participated in the competition and Kaski became the champion.
