Seat allocation among ruling parties for HoR election near final



KATHMANDU: The allocation of seats among the ruling parties for the election of House of Representatives (HoR) has reached the final stage.

The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has however walked out the five-party alliance.

It took time for the alliance to finalize seat allocation due to JSP, according to five-party taskforce member and leader of the Rastriya Janamorcha, Him Lal Puri.

The meeting of the top leaders of the ruling parties on Friday discussed how it could finalize the report of the taskforce.

Leader Puri informed that the seat allocation for HoR was almost finalized and discussion was now on Provincial Assembly election.

The top leaders have continued the discussions for some days to finalize the seat allocation among them for the November 20 elections.

It was said today’s meeting could be decisive one.

The Election Commission has scheduled that coming Sunday (October 9) is the date for the parties to submit candidacies for the election of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly.

In view of the deadline, the alliance is under pressure to finalize the seat sharing and submit names before the Election Commission. It is learnt that today’s meeting was attended by the Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba; Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal; Chairperson of the CPN (Unified Socialist), Madhav Kumar Nepal; Vice Chairperson of Janamorcha, Durga Poudel; among others.
