NIC takes action against 32 office chiefs for denying information

KATHMANDU: The National Information Commission (NIC) has said it had so far taken action against 32 office chiefs for denying information to the information requesters.

Commissioner at NIC, Ratna Prasad Mainali said 32 office chiefs were taken action as they denied citizen’s constitutional right to get information.

Among them, 12 office chiefs were punished in the last two years alone.

According to him, some 1100 appeals were filed at NIC, complaining the denial of information by the office chiefs.

Mainali further said NIC was collaborating with the FNJ chapter to sensitize people about value of right to information across the country.
