Alliance formed to counter UML Chair Oli’s atrocities: PM Deuba

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that a five-party alliance was formed to counter the atrocities of then Prime Minister KP Oli.

Addressing an election rally organized by the ruling coalition in Butwal on Saturday, Prime Minister Deuba said they had formed the alliance to protect democratic rights and institutionalize the republic.

“The alliance was formed to counter Oli’s atrocities, and the threats he caused to the democratic system,” he said, adding, “There is no provision in the constitution for the prime minister to dissolve  the parliament; yet, UML Chair dissolved the parliament.”

He recalled that the UML obstructed the parliament to ‘justify’ the irrational dissolution.

He also said that the United States grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) benefitted the people of Butwal the most.

“The people from Butwal to Dang would benefit the most from the MCC project as the road from Butwal to Dang would be widened and power transmission lines would be constructed.”
