CPN-Maoist Center calls Central Committee meeting

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center, a major party of the ruling coalition, has called its Central Committee meeting to deliberate on contemporary political issues.

Party central office Secretary Shreeram Dhakal said the Central Committee meeting has been called for February 11 and 12. The meeting was put off time and again due to the surge of coronavirus cases. Dhakal added the meeting would take place physically this time.

The meeting discuss the US assistance project, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact, the situation following the declaration of the local level elections, the nomination of party’s office-bearers, among other issues.

Although the party held its 8th General Convention in December, it has not nominated other party office-bearers except the party’s Chair.

The Maoist Center stated that the meeting has been called for holding discussions on the nomination of central members, the politburo, the standing committee and nomination of the office-bearers as well as on other contemporary political topics.
