UML leader Rawal demands probe against PM Deuba, Prachanda

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Bhim Rawal has demanded investigation and action against Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

A letter written by PM Deuba and Prachanda to Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the reply from MCC was leaked in the media Sunday.

Speaking at a meeting of the International Relations Committee on Monday, Rawal said it was objectionable that PM Deuba and Prachanda wrote to the MCC ensuring ratification of the agreement. “It is an example of weakening diplomacy and undermining national integrity,” he said.

Rawal said that PM Deuba and Prachanda, in the letter, sought time for parliamentary ratification of MCC and assured to mobilize government resources for raising awareness on the compact among the public.

“Does anybody have the right to give assurance to foreign government regarding an agreement that is under consideration in the parliament?” he questioned, adding, “This issue should be probed and the guilty punished.”
