Dandakhet-Rahughat transmission line project advances

KATHMANDU: A contract agreement has been signed for the construction of Dandakhet-Rahughat Transmission Line Project of 132 KV capacity. The transmission line is being developed by Nepal Electricity Authority.

The transmission line was realized to link the power generated from Rahughat and other rivers in the district to the national power grid.

Indian company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Ltd won the contract bidding for constructing the transmission line and sub-stations linking Dandakhet of Malika Rural Municipality, Gulmi, and Ambang of Raghuganga Rural Municipality in Myagdi district.

Project Chief Roshan Agrawal said that the contract agreement was signed on December 31, 2021, with the Indian firm for the transmission line construction at an estimated cost of 26 million US dollars.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided loan assistance for the construction of transmission line and sub-stations. “The contractor has begun the tasks of design and survey immediately after the contract agreement,” Agrawal said. The project is to be completed in 30 months.

As agreed, a total of 90 towers would be constructed in the 25 kms long power grid. In Myagdi district, four hydropower projects with the capacity of 172.8 megawatt have started the task of project development.

Likewise, other licensed power developers are now expected to begin the construction with the preparations for transmission line development.
