KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is to meet leader of the opposition KP Sharma Oli and urge him to end the impasse in the federal parliament.

A meeting of the five-party ruling coalition’s High-Level Political Coordination Committee held at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar on Friday discussed smooth functioning of the parliament.

The Political Coordination Committee urged PM Deuba to meet UML Chairman Oli personally and take initiative to end the stalemate in House.

CPN-Unified Socialist General Secretary Beduram Bhusal said, “The prime minister is to meet the leader of the opposition by today or tomorrow and urge him to end the blockade of the parliament.”

The meeting of the Political Coordination Committee today also deliberated the National Assembly (NA) election. The ruling coalition already filed candidacy for January 26-slated NA election after agreeing on allocation of seats earlier.

The meeting also agreed to form coordination committees in districts targeting the NA election.
